Is climate adaptation the next big business opportunity in Southeast Asia?

While climate change brings undeniable risks, it also opens the door to bold innovation and economic transformation, especially in Southeast Asia.
According to the World Bank, adaptation investments across Asia-Pacific could require up to USD 160 billion per year by 2030. That’s not just a cost, it's a massive opportunity.
Southeast Asia is especially vulnerable to extreme weather and rising sea levels. But this challenge is spurring a wave of solutions, including:
Climate-resilient agriculture using drought-tolerant crops and precision tech
Water and flood management infrastructure for rapidly urbanizing cities
Disaster-tech and early warning systems for communities on the frontlines
Insurance and fintech innovations to protect smallholders and MSMEs
The private sector has a vital role to play, by investing in solutions, forging public-private partnerships, and scaling technologies that support long-term adaptation.
The question isn’t if we act, but how fast and how smart we act.
Which adaptation innovations do you think have the most potential in your country or industry? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
